The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is beefing up its welcome bonus for new cardholders just in time for new year’s travel resolutions. If your budget is in line with the high spending requirement, the latest offer can provide a lot of value toward your next trip.

The new sign-up offer

New cardholders are eligible to earn this sign-up offer: Earn 100,000 bonus miles once you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first 6 months from account opening – equal to $1,000 in travel.

This is significantly higher than the previous bonus: 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening, equal to $750 in travel. You’ll have to spend more than double the amount to earn it, but you’ll have twice as much time to do so.

Miles can be redeemed for statement credit against travel purchases, for travel bookings through Capital One, as transfers to airline or hotel partners, and for gift cards, to name a few options. Each mile is worth 1 cent apiece when redeemed for statement credit or bookings through Capital One, and potentially more when you transfer and redeem them through partners. In short, the bonus could cover a sizable chunk of your vacation costs.

Aside from the new bonus, the card offers ongoing perks and rewards that can offset the cost of the $395 annual fee.

Ongoing rewards

  • 2 miles per $1 spent on purchases.

  • 5 miles per $1 spent on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel.

  • 10 miles per $1 on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.

Perks

  • Up to $300 annual credit for bookings made through Capital One Travel.

  • 10,000 bonus miles every account anniversary (equal to $100 toward travel).

  • Unlimited access to Capital One Lounges and more than 1,300 lounges through the Capital One Partner Network.

  • Complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status. (Car upgrades, expedited pickup and more.)

  • Extra perks when you book a hotel stay through Capital One’s Premier Collection, like a $100 experience credit, daily breakfast for two people and complimentary WiFi.

  • Cell phone protection, shopping protections and travel protections.
