The Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi is making a change to its rewards structure and getting a physical makeover as well. Here’s what new and existing cardholders can expect:

Tweak to gas rewards

Starting Jan. 19, 2025, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi — along with its small-business counterpart, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business by Citi — will earn 5% cash back on gas purchases made at Costco. Previously, cardholders earned 4% cash back at Costco pumps.

Note that all other non-Costco gas purchases and EV charging purchases will continue to earn 4% cash back (with a combined yearly spending cap of $7,000 in the 5% and 4% gas categories), then 1% back.

Tweaks to physical card

Along with this update to rewards, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi is ditching its previous gray look for a new black card design.

Apart from these changes, all other card benefits and rewards remain the same. In addition to what the card will earn on gas and at EV stations, it also offers the following ongoing rewards:

  • 3% cash back at restaurants and on most travel purchases.

  • 2% cash back at Costco and Costco.com.

  • 1% cash back on all other purchases.

The annual fee for the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi remains $0, but you have to be a Costco member to get it. A baseline Gold Star membership costs $65 per year, while the higher-tier Executive membership is $130 per year.

Information related to the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business by Citi has been collected by SS and has not been reviewed or provided by the issuer or provider of this card.
