Escapes Kicks Off 2025 with Free Cinema Screenings Across the UK

This January, Escapes is back with another year of free monthly cinema experiences, starting with the highly anticipated 4K restoration of the 1990s cult classic Point Break, starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. The screening will take place on Blue Monday, January 20th—a day known for its gloomy reputation, but Escapes promises an uplifting dose of cinematic escapism.

Since February 2024, Escapes has been on a mission to make the magic of cinema accessible to everyone, offering 65,000 free tickets to independent films like The Iron Claw and Seize Them!. Supported by the BFI with National Lottery funding, Escapes continues its commitment to bring audiences an unforgettable big-screen experience every month, free of charge.

Point Break Returns in Stunning 4K

Directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow, Point Break is a must-see action classic. From high-stakes heists to adrenaline-pumping surfing scenes, the film follows FBI agent Johnny Utah (Reeves) as he goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of bank-robbing surfers led by Bodhi (Swayze). Thanks to Escapes, audiences nationwide can relive this iconic movie in cinemas with its stunning new 4K DCP restoration.

Bringing Cinema to Everyone

Escapes partners with leading cinema chains like Picturehouse, Reel Cinemas, and independent venues across the UK, making screenings available in over 140 locations. From Nottingham’s historic Savoy Cinema to Glasgow’s Omniplex and Whitley Bay’s Jam Jar, Escapes is creating opportunities for all to experience the charm of local and independent cinemas.

Accessibility is a priority, too—all screenings of Point Break will feature descriptive subtitles to ensure inclusivity for all audiences.

Discover New Films Every Month

Escapes isn’t just about nostalgia. Throughout 2025, it will spotlight a diverse lineup of cult classics, new releases, and award-winning films, with a fresh feature revealed every month. Whether you’re a casual moviegoer, an avid cinema fan, or someone rediscovering the joys of the big screen, Escapes offers something for everyone.

How to Get Your Tickets

Tickets for Point Break and upcoming films are completely free. Visit escapetothecinema.co.uk/tickets or download the Escapes Cinematik app to claim yours.

With venues across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland—and more locations being added regularly—Escapes makes 2025 the year of free cinema for all. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy world-class films and support local cinemas at the same time.
